- 6 Jan 2026 Cork Airport recorded its busiest year ever in 2025, welcoming 3.46 million passengers, a 13% year-on-year increase. It was also named Europe's best airport in the category for facilities handling under five million passengers. (source)

Construction / capital works
- 13 Apr 2026 Cork Airport announced it will build Ireland's largest solar-powered carport over the Holiday Blue car park, in partnership with Greenvolt Next. The 1.7 MW array (3,696 panels, 5 inverters) will generate around 1.5 GWh a year to up to 20% of the airport's electricity to and is due for completion in August 2027, rolled out in two phases from early summer 2026. - 2025 to 2026 (ongoing) A €200m daa investment programme is under way at Cork Airport, including a new mezzanine floor with an expanded security screening area, a larger duty-free store, a new executive lounge, additional boarding gates and increased car parking, as part of a development plan launched in May 2025 to grow the airport toward five million passengers. New and changed routes / airlines
- 25 Nov 2025 Cork Airport announced a major expansion of European connectivity for summer 2026. Aer Lingus is adding new routes to Nice (twice weekly, Wed/Sat, from 2 May 2026) and Santiago de Compostela (Mon/Thu, from 1 June 2026), and making its Prague service year-round. (source)
- 8 May 2026 Lufthansa reinstated its Cork to Frankfurt route from 1 June 2026, operating twice weekly (Mondays and Fridays) with a larger 138-seat Airbus A319, reconnecting Cork to Lufthansa's global network of 150+ destinations. (source)
- Jan 2026 Ryanair is cutting three Cork routes for 2026 as it shifts capacity: Poznań ends 26 March, and Gdańsk and Rome end 28 March. (source)
Security rule changes (liquids / electronics)
- 2025 to 2026 Cork is a daa-operated airport upgrading to C3 (CT) scanning as part of the wider Irish rollout. Travellers should confirm the current liquids allowance (100ml vs 2-litre) and whether laptops must be removed on Cork's official security page before flying, as rules can differ by checkpoint and from connecting airports.
